Engineering Breakdown

Scramble Links Outro — A loud orange footer that ends in a huge wordmark built from real letters, where the second one is a ring drawn with gradients. Each letter climbs out of its own mask when the footer scrolls into view. Hover a link and its label scrambles through random characters before settling back. The signup field draws a thick underline on focus, shakes when the email looks wrong, and swaps itself for a thank you note that scrambles in when it works. Three layouts reshuffle the links and the legal text for desktop, tablet and mobile.
Every interaction state, motion curve, and responsive edge-case has been extracted and reconstructed for seamless integration into modern React applications.
01
Zero — Primitive Dependency & Pure Standalone Pattern: pure React and scoped CSS. There is no UI primitive library, no icon package and nothing extra to install.
02
Letter Reveal: every letter of the wordmark sits in its own mask and rises 70ms after the previous one, once 30% of the wordmark is on screen. The reveal plays a single time.
03
Drawn O: the second slot is not a font glyph. It is a ring made from a radial and a conic gradient, so it keeps its shape whatever font loads.
04
Wordmark Scales With the Footer: the type size is computed from the container width with container query units, so the wordmark always fits edge to edge without any measuring in JavaScript.
05
Text Scramble: on devices that can hover, a link label cycles through random characters and settles left to right in 450ms. Spaces stay where they are, and the real label comes back when it finishes.
06
Signup States: an invalid email clears the field, changes the placeholder and shakes the form. A valid one replaces the form with a thank you note that scrambles in over 900ms, with a button to dismiss it.
07
Ready for a Real Request: pass an onSubscribe handler to send the email to your provider. Returning false or throwing shakes the form and keeps what was typed.
08
Three Layouts: desktop has a four column top row and full legal labels. Tablet uses short labels and moves the copyright into a bottom bar. Mobile turns the social links into 48px rows with arrows and gives the wordmark extra room.
09
Reduced Motion: the reveal, the scramble, the shake and the transitions are all switched off.
